Elmya EPC Receives ICP Accreditation for High Voltage Projects in the UK

This certification comes at a key moment for Elmya, as it will strengthen and expand its High Voltage business line—one of the core pillars of the Elmya 2024–2029 Strategic Plan.

Elmya EPC has been accredited as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) under the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS), officially authorizing the company to design and execute High Voltage grid connections in the United Kingdom. This recognition validates Elmya’s technical capabilities, quality standards, and stringent safety protocols applied across all its projects.

Elmya EPC is a leading company in the design, construction, and grid connection of large-scale renewable energy power plants. With a strong focus on industrial photovoltaic solar projects, the company has developed deep expertise in building High Voltage infrastructure (lines and substations) and has an established international presence in strategic markets such as Spain, the UK, Italy, Portugal, and Latin America.

As part of its High Voltage experience, Elmya EPC has developed over 650 MVA of transformation capacity across 13 substations and has executed more than 80 km of overhead and underground lines at 66 and 132 kV. The company also boasts a highly specialized in-house engineering team, including 11 design engineers dedicated exclusively to High Voltage systems, with advanced capabilities in grid studies.

The ICP accreditation under the NERS scheme will enable Elmya EPC UK to offer a comprehensive service for High Voltage grid connection projects to private developers in the region, streamlining development processes and strengthening its position as a trusted partner in the UK renewable energy market. It will also help foster commercial relationships with various Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), with whom Elmya aims to become a key partner in the transmission and distribution sector.

Elmya EPC has operated in the UK for over a decade and has delivered projects that have connected more than 220 MWp of capacity to the grid, actively contributing to the country’s energy transition.

“This milestone reaffirms our commitment to technical excellence, innovation, and sustainability. The ICP accreditation not only demonstrates our capability to deliver complex projects to the highest standards but also enables us to continue leading the way toward a cleaner, safer energy future,” says José María Piñar, CEO and President of Elmya.

This certification arrives at a crucial time for Elmya, as it will reinforce and expand its High Voltage business line—one of the main drivers of the Elmya 2024–2029 Strategic Plan. This roadmap outlines the company’s goals for sustainable growth and international expansion, consolidating its position as a benchmark provider of comprehensive solutions for the development and connection of energy infrastructure in global markets.
